Mount Bregagno is a huge mountain in a dominant position in the upper part of lake Como.
On its slopes there is no high trunk vegetation.
From Santa Maria or Rezzonico head to Marena or Gallio and follow the signs to "Monti", "Montuglio", "Baita degli Amici" . The road leads you through splendid chestnut woods. At the end of the road leave your car on the public car park and start walking on the rough road. The road will soon become a path crossing pasture and birch woods. After a half hour of walking you will see Alpe Rescascia (summer grazing in the mountains) (m. 1413). On the left of the stable take the path leading to Sant'Amate (m. 1623).
From here on walk on the ridge till you come to Monte Bregagnino (m. 1905) and then Mount Bregagno (m. 2107)
